How did you join the InStreams Hub?
I applied an open tenure track position in late 2019.
What is your main contribution to collaboration?
My research is mainly related to geopolymers and alkali-activated materials. There, I aim to understand better the connections between the material characteristics and their performance in different applications. Currently, I´m focusing on the development of new water treatment materials based on industrial side streams and alkali-activation. Thus, my research is contributing on both materials recycling and solving water-related issues.
What attracts you to your research?
I find it fascinating to combine basic and applied research. Working as a researcher in the environmental technology area is my contribution to solving the global problems we are facing.
If you had a time machine, what would be your/hub’s biggest achievement in the future?
We have been able to identify the most feasible applications of geopolymers in different water treatment applications. The materials we have developed have good technical performance and low environmental footprint. They are also used by different industries.
If you had all the time and money in the world, what would you do?
I would buy some cool analytical instruments, such as an electron spin resonance spectrometer. It would take my team´s research on the next level.
What is you secret talent?
I´m rather persistent in what I do.
